Delphine Debruyne (ir., PhD) is a European Patent Attorney and a registered UPC Representative at De Clercq & Partners with strong experience in patent prosecution, opposition and appeal proceedings and strategic IP advisory work in biotechnology and life sciences. She advises innovative companies on the protection and development of patent portfolios. 

Delphine holds a Master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering and a PhD in Medical Sciences from Ghent University. Her doctoral research was conducted in the field of experimental cancer research, giving her a solid scientific foundation in molecular biology and translational biomedical research. This background enables her to work effectively with complex inventions in both academic and industrial contexts. She joined De Clercq & Partners in 2010 and qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2014.  

Delphine’s technical expertise spans a broad range of life sciences fields, including antibody technologies, gene therapy, metabolic engineering, cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, nutraceuticals, food technology and diagnostic methods. She is regularly involved in IP due diligence, patent landscape analyses and long-term portfolio management for research-driven companies. 

Alongside her client work, Delphine is valued for her precise analytical approach and her ability to translate complex scientific developments into clear and practical patent strategies.
