Verónica Rojas de la Parra (PhD) is a European Patent Attorney and a registered UPC Representative at De Clercq & Partners with strong experience in patent prosecution and strategic IP advisory work in chemistry and life sciences. She advises innovative companies on the protection, development and optimisation of patent portfolios. 

Verónica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Pharmacy-Biology and a Master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, as well as a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Lund University in Sweden. Her doctoral research focused on bioorganic chemistry, providing her with a strong foundation in small-molecule chemistry and medicinal applications. 

Before joining De Clercq & Partners in 2012, Verónica worked as a medicinal chemist and IP manager in the biotechnology sector. This role gave her valuable hands-on experience at the interface between research, product development and intellectual property strategy, and provided her with a clear understanding of commercial and regulatory considerations in the life sciences industry. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2017 Verónica’s technical expertise spans a broad range of technologies, including organic and polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and biotechnology. She is regularly involved in IP due diligence, patent landscape analyses and long-term portfolio strategy for research-driven companies. 

Alongside her client work, Verónica is valued for her precise analytical approach and her ability to translate complex chemical innovations into clear and effective patent protection strategies.
